This collection draws its lyrics from the writings of the Baha'i Faith and the Holy Bible. In
Befriend Me, Rebecca Johnston-Garvin has utilized a variety of voices, including her own. On the lullaby prayer for infants in "Rear This Little Babe," her good friends Sarah Taraz and Chuck Piecukonis join in duet. Patty Haulley returns to lend her voice in a duet with Sarah Taraz in the jazzy "O Moving Form of Dust" and the choral in "Light of Unity." Rebecca's 6 year old granddaughter Chloe closes the CD with a plea to the world for unity in her 13 second a capella rendition of "Light of Unity."
Befriend Me also represents a rebirth for this singer/composer. More than ten years after a virus attacked her vocal chords and forced her to undergo three surgeries, Rebecca has taken on the role of lead vocal in six of the eleven songs on this, her third CD. In the CD's title song, "Befriend Me," she has also returned to her musical roots of classical piano and full orchestra.
