Review This Product
This book contains ten chapters each written by a scholar in this field - including Mojan Momen, Fereydun Vahman, and Nader Saeedi, compiled and edited by Dr. Fereydun Vahman. The book reveals the emergence of a new religion in nineteenth century Iran and its revolutionary teachings that, with the passion and sacrifice of its adherents, gradually penetrated Iranian society. Despite more than one and a half centuries of violent persecution, this religion not only continued to exist but also transformed and spread beyond the borders of Iran in the form of the Bahá’í Faith.
The importance of this unique work cannot be overstated. Firstly, because it is a lasting tribute of our generation to the Báb’s bicentenary birth, and secondly because of its original and novel contents on the Báb and the Bábí community of Iran. In Persian.

When she was arrested, Mrs. Muluk Khadem was a member of the last Local Spiritual Assembly of Tehran. She spent nearly six years in prison while the first 372 days were spent in solitary confinement. During this time, she was condemned to death twice and was taken for execution with other inmates only to be returned to her prison cell at the last moment. Her final release from prison allowed her to write her memoirs, sharing the memories that reflect the lives of all the other martyrs and prisoners who were never given the opportunity to put share all they faced in prison.

Review This Product In Persian Awakening: A History of the Bábí and Bahá'í Faiths in Nayríz is an inspiring account of the brutal religious persecutions that took place in 1850, 1853, and 1909 in the town of Nayríz, Iran, against its Bábí and Bahá'í residents. During this time, the town's citizens, spurred on by a corrupt Muslim clergy and government, launched several waves of bloodshed against the Bábís - and later Bahá'ís - who lived there. This type of persecution continues today in present-day Iran toward the Bahá'ís - on a more subtle level - and the history of the Bábís and Bahá'ís in Nayríz serves as a reminder of what can happen when religious fanaticism and paranoia are allowed to replace rational thinking and tolerance.
