Prayers and Meditations

One Voice Press presents the fourth title in the Pause & Reflect series, a compilation from the Bahá’í writings on the topic of community. Our relationships and collaborations with others are vital aspects of our existence and our ability to thrive. A community with a shared sense of purpose is a powerful thing, and when that shared sense of purpose is rooted in the desire to contribute to the betterment of society, then a community has the potential for transformative change. It is hoped these passages will offer inspiration, for both reflection and action in our lives and communities.

A new book of prayers and meditative passages designed especially for junior youth and youth. The period of adolescence is a potent time of change, and this compilation aims to support youth to make time for prayer, meditation, and reflection. Beyond that, it is also meant to inspire young people to feel spiritually empowered to Strive, that their “actions day by day may be beautiful prayers.” It is organized thematically around a number of topics, such as trust in God, joy, difficulties, justice, service, and more.

Where the Light Comes in is a collection of inspiring quotes and meditations from ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and others such as Maya Angelou, Hafez, Rumi, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It is designed to inspire healing of afflictions and diseases we experience personally, like illness and injury of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies, as well as those that plague our communities and society, like prejudice, racism, and social injustice. These are all wounded places that, it is said, are where the light comes in. May you find a bit of solace, healing, and spiritual nourishment within these pages.

Prepared for the occasion of the centenary of the Master’s passing, this commemorative volume contains twenty-six recently translated prayers of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá.
