Biography:
Richard W. Thomas is a professor of history at Michigan State University. He is author and coauthor of several books including
Detroit: Race and Uneven Development; Racial Unity: An Imperative for Social Progress; Understanding Interracial Unity: A Study of U.S. Race Relations; and
Life For Us Is What We Make It: Building the Black Community In Detroit: 1915-1945, which was awarded the Wesley Logan Prize in African Diaspora History in 1994 by the American Historical Association and the Association of Afro-American Life and History.
