Carolyn Sparey Fox

Carolyn Sparey Fox

Carolyn Sparey Fox is a professional viola player, initially working in London before moving to Scotland as principal viola with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, touring extensively in Europe and North America and appearing on BBC television as a soloist in Bach's Brandenburg concerto number 6. Upon leaving the SCO Carolyn became principal viola with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and a commissioned composer before launching herself as a published writer. Carolyn’s first two books, ‘The Half of it was Never Told’ and ‘Seeking a State of Heaven’, were inspired by a period of 19th century history about which very little is known, her third, ‘A Question of Time’, recounting her parents’ lives and experiences during both world wars. Carolyn’s three most recent books for children are ‘Little Acorn’, ‘Abdu’l-Baha’s Little Brown Cat’ and ‘Leili and the Blue Balloon’. A book of children’s poetry is in the process of moving towards publication.
