"This thrilling saga conveys the drama, excitement and challenges associated with the completion of the Shrine of the B?b." ~ Dr. Janet Khan

Continuing the exhilarating story of the Shrine of the B?b, this volume covers the building of its superstructure as well as the development of the beautiful gardens that surround it.

A drama opens on Mount Carmel in Haifa in the Holy Land in 1922.

The new head of the Bah?'? Faith, Shoghi Effendi, begins the project to complete the Shrine of the B?b by building a domed superstructure. Only 24 years old, he is faced with an almost impossible task. He has nowhere near enough money, no competent assistants, and no building experience. Undaunted by the challenge, the Guardian toils towards his goal through decades of upheaval and opposition. As time moves on, he gathers support from the growing Bah?'? community worldwide, and particularly from his wife, who becomes his tireless collaborator.

In 1953 Shoghi Effendi unveils to the world the golden-domed Shrine of the B?b on Mount Carmel, set amidst gardens of a mystical charm. He names the Shrine "Queen of Carmel." This true story follows Journey to a Mountain (1850-1921), the pulsating description of the transfer of the sacred remains of the B?b from Persia to the Holy Land, and their interment in the Shrine built by 'Abdu'l-Bah?.

Dramatic documentation - a befitting sequel to Vol. 1
I have read this book and found it very inspiring. It is narrating the many stories taking place over years of struggle and dedication from 1922 to 1953. Each dramatic story is told in a succinct and heart-felt manner. Due to this book - just to look at the shrine itself has become an inspiration to me. I am reminded of these many little dramas which are shared here so well and which have made this masterpiece of architecture possible. Is it any wonder that it is referred to as the ‘Queen of Carmel’.
I definitely encourage the reading of this book. I purchased the kindle version as well as the paperback.
